As the season to Downton Abbey just came to an end it made me think how much more fun it was watching that show this year after visiting Highclere Castle last summer which is where Downton Abbey is filmed.
I think visiting Europe is really fun for kids because they will read about various cities in books, learn about them in school and see them on TV or in movies. It makes it much more interesting and fun if you have been there.
Following is a list of movies and books set in some of the cities we take groups to. Please feel free to pass along others.
Hunchback of Notre Dame
Day of the Jackel
Pompeii is coming out soon
To Rome with Love
European Vacation with Chevy Chase and of the James Bond and Bourne Supremacy movies take place all over Europe.
Watching these are a great way to get kids excited about a trip to Europe. And visiting these cities are a great way for kids to appreciate history and get excited about learning about it in school.
I have a free Kids Guide to France on my website TheFamilyOdyssey.com under Tips if you want to download it.
Come Join Us this summer on a trip the whole family will remember!
